Arrival of the Cassini spacecraft at Saturn

Arrival of the Cassini spacecraft at Saturn
On 30 June 2004 the Cassini spacecraft and its probe Huygens arrived at Saturn. The spacecraft was turned about 180 degrees so that its four-meter wide antenna could shield the sensitive on-board electronics from particles as the spacecraft crossed Saturn's rings. One of its main engines was fired for about 90 minutes to slow down the spacecraft to be able to be captured by Saturn's gravity and enter into orbit.
