Testing the Radiofrequency Ion Thruster (RIT) at DLR
A Radiofrequency Ion Thruster (RIT) of the so-called RIT 10 class is shown in a test chamber at the DLR Institute of Aerodynamics and Flow Technology in Göttingen. The RIT 10 propulsion system, developed by the ArianeGroup in Lampoldshausen, was the first to boost a satellite (ARTEMIS) to its intended orbit after a failure in the chemical power supply.
