Maps of the crustal thickness and surface heat flow of Mars, based on model calculations. It can be seen that the distribution of heat flow is associated with the thickness of the crust. This is due to the accumulation of basaltic crustal rocks containing radioactive elements. An average value is expected for the landing site chosen for the InSight mission.
