Approaching a thunderstorm in the DLR Falcon research aircraft

Scientists from the German Aerospace Center (Deutsches Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt; DLR) studied tropical storms on four continents. The focus was lightning, particularly the nitrogen oxides that are formed by lightning in the atmosphere.
