NASA's Venus Venus Emissivity, Radio science, InSAR, Topography, And Spectroscopy (VERITAS) mission is scheduled to be launched after 2030. The orbiter will study the surface and interior of the planet with a powerful new generation of scientific tools. To prepare instruments and optimise experiments, an expedition led by NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) with participation of DLR and other international reserachers made simultaneous measurements from air with DLR's Oberpfaffenhofen-based Dornier 228-212 research aircraft and on ground by a team of 14 researchers. The unique young volcanic landscape resembles the surface of Earth’s neighbour planet, Venus.
