Visualisation of the new DLR research ship
The research ship will measure 48 metres long and 11 metres wide, with a draught of 3.2 metres. It will primarily be used for research voyages lasting from one to several days in the North Sea and Baltic Sea, accommodating up to 20 people onboard. DLR will use the ship as a test platform for climate-compatible energy systems, focusing on hydrogen-based and battery-powered technologies.
