ESA's Plato (PLAnetary Transits and Oscillations of stars) mission is the third medium-class mission in ESA's Cosmic Vision programme. Plato will operate 26 cameras simultaneously to observe Earth-like planets orbiting bright, Sun-like stars, and characterise these stars. The use of such a large number of cameras allows for a larger field of view than previous missions. DLR is significantly involved in the development of the cameras, the operation of the space probe and the scientific analysis of the data.
