Infographic – The Orion spacecraft positioned atop the SLS rocket
The Orion spacecraft consists of the European Service Module (ESM) and the crew capsule, and is positioned beneath the Launch Abort System at the tip of the Space Launch System (SLS) heavy-lift rocket. The smaller image at the bottom right shows Orion after separation from the Interim Cryogenic Propulsion Stage (ICPS) just under 3.5 hours after launch. The ICPS provides the spacecraft with its final thrust before the Orion main engine in the ESM is activated.
