L- / S- / X-band receiving station

The L- / S- / X-band receiving systems X1, X2, X3 are based at the German Remote Sensing Data Center (DFD) which is operated by the German Aerospace Center (Deutsches Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt; DLR) in Neustrelitz. The station carries out the reception, processing and delivery of satellite payload data within a unique reception environment at DLR.

Receiving system for satellite data

With its operational multi-mission system and high automation levels, this large-scale facility is a key element in the production chain for the acquisition of Earth observation data. It is also an important contributor to numerous international collaborations at DLR (including the US Geological Survey (USGS), the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), the Korea Aerospace Research Institute (KARI) and others).

The L- / S- / and X-band systems are used to receive and process data from Earth observation satellites and small scientific satellites, as well as to provide Telemetry, Tracking and Command (TTC) services. They deliver important support in the management of crisis situations (for example, in cases of natural disasters) and in development projects for new satellite missions.
