Investigating turbulent jet diffusion flames in a methane-hydrogen-nitrogen mix

The motivation for investigating these flames was, on the one hand, to gain a better understanding of the turbulence-chemistry interaction in turbulent flames and, on the other hand, to provide measurement data for the validation of numerical simulations.
The turbulent CH4/H2/N2 jet diffusion flames termed DLR_A and DLR_B were often used for comparisons with calculated results. The experimental work was performed in a collaboration between the Sandia National Labs, TU Darmstadt and the DLR Institute of Combustion Technology.
