Cottbus
At the Cottbus site, DLR is expanding its expertise in energy and aeronautics research with the Institute of Low-Carbon Industrial Processes and Institute of Electrified Aero Engines.
Research at the Institute of Low-Carbon Industrial Processes focuses in particular on the decarbonisation of industry, which is a key building block in the energy transition and in achieving national climate objectives. A particular focus is placed on collaboration with companies in the context of technology transfer and cooperation with other research institutions.
The Institute of Electrified Aero Engines investigates innovative, more-electric, hybrid-electric and fully electric aircraft engines. Researchers design and test key technologies and integrated propulsion systems, examine their environmental impacts and service life and devise strategies for their safe operation. With this profile, the institute operates directly at the interface between fundamental research and application.
The DLR_School_Lab BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg focuses on sustainable aviation, the reduction of industrial greenhouse gases and research under microgravity conditions.
