Oldenburg

DLR site Oldenburg

Oldenburg is considered the birthplace of renewable energy research in Germany. Here, DLR develops concepts for the systematic solutions needed to supply energy derived from renewable energy sources in the future. DLR's Oldenburg site also addresses challenges related to automated and autonomous transport systems on roads, railways and waterways.

DLR collaborates closely with Carl von Ossietzky University, the OFFIS Institute for Information Technology and other research and industrial partners in the city and surrounding region. Together, Oldenburg's energy researchers form the Energy Research in Oldenburg (ENERiO) network. At the 'Alte Fleiwa' site's new 'innovation quarter', DLR will work together with regional and national companies on a number of joint projects. A primary focus is on current challenges related to digitalisation in fields such as future mobility, the environment and sustainability.

At the Oldenburg site, DLR benefits from the synergies that arise from its interfaces with DLR's core topics of energy, transport, digitalisation, space, aeronautics and security.
