Steel diaphragms for the high-enthalpy wind tunnel at Göttingen
The steel diaphragms installed in the wind tunnel between the compression tube and the thrust tube measure 1.6 centimetres in thickness. A steel diaphragm does not rupture until an extremely high pressure develops inside the compression tube, transferring the pressure to the gas in the thrust tube. Each steel diaphragm can only be used once.
