Not only can the KONTUR-2 joystick operate the ROKVISS robot arm, but special sensors also register the robot’s contact forces, and pass this data on to the cosmonauts using actuators fitted to the force-feedback joystick. The German Aerospace Center (DLR) experiment will be performed on board the International Space Station from August 2015 onward.
