View into Lowell Crater on Mars
This oblique perspective view oblique perspective view was computed from data acquired by the stereo channels of the High Resolution Stereo Camera (HRSC) instrument operated by the German Aerospace Center (DLR). It shows Lowell Crater with large areas of dark sands and dune fields in its interior. The dark material in the central area of the crater is an almost fully compacted layer of sand.
