The square around the crater shows the extent of the mosaic that was created from seven image strips. The data for these strips were acquired during orbits 2640, 2662, 2684, 16,895, 18,910, 18,977, 18,984) by the High Resolution Stereo Camera (HRSC) on board ESA's Mars Express spacecraft.
