The DLR Institute of Aerodynamics and Flow Technology operates the hypersonic wind tunnel 2 (H2K) at its site in Cologne. The scientists use H2K to analyse the flow dynamics for scaled models of future aircraft travelling at between Mach 4.8 and Mach 11.2, as well as to measure aerodynamic and aerothermodynamic loads acting on models and their components.
