The German REceiver for Astronomy at Terahertz Frequencies (GREAT), a far-infrared spectrometer, is seen here mounted on the telescope flange inside the pressurised cabin of the SOFIA airborne observatory. The telescope mirror is located in a sealed compartment at the rear of the aircraft.
