The Upsala Glacier over time
Located in the southern Andes, several glaciers are remnants of the glacial 'Patagonian Ice Sheet'. The Campo de Hielo Sur and Campo de Hielo Norte regions are the largest glaciated areas in the Southern Hemisphere outside Antarctica. On the Argentinian side of Patagonia lies Los Glaciares National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It consists largely of the three glaciers: Perito Moreno, Viedma and Upsala. Red arrows indicate the glacier front in 2008 (left) and 2022 (right).
