NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory created this GIF animation of a solar flare that occurred on 6 November 2024. The flare appears as a bright flash near the centre of the image. The sequence shows an area of extreme ultraviolet light, which highlights the extremely hot material in the flare and is coloured red.
