Blue Ghost on its way from Earth to the Moon
After its launch on 15 January 2025 and 25 days in Earth orbit, Firefly Aerospace's Blue Ghost lunar lander was transferred onto its trajectory toward the Moon. During this phase, this image of Earth was taken, showing the planet as a fully illuminated circular disc – a view even astronauts aboard the International Space Station cannot see. Only the 24 Apollo astronauts from nine missions had the opportunity to view Earth, the 'blue jewel', this way.
