DLR SMiLE project – application in assistance robotics
The elasto-plastic approach is not only advantageous in space robotics but also makes robot behaviour safer in environments shared with humans. In the SMiLE project, DLR is using remote control (via the DLR HUG system) to investigate how robots can assist in care contexts. Both the Rollin' Justin humanoid robot and the EDAN wheelchair robot are being used.
