The Bavarian State Forests (Bayerische Staatsforsten; BaySF) use EO4CAM to help detect bark beetle infestations. The dataset on canopy loss has been integrated into the 'ZeInsekt' app, which is used by approximately 3000 employees. They use the app to search specifically for bark beetles in the vicinity of the forest damage areas shown in the map. Infested trees are then recorded, noting the extent and condition of the infestation. Using this information, forest managers can take appropriate measures to prevent the pests from spreading further.
