The ship sank off the coast of Heligoland in 1944. In the North Sea Wrecks project led by the German Maritime Museum. During the project, DLR sensor technology was used to provide detailed images, scans and videos of sunken ships. The rusting wrecks and munitions leak toxins that pollute marine animals and plants.
