Video: The MMX rover begins its mission
The Idefix rover is part of the Martian Moons eXploration (MMX) mission. It will land on and explore the Martian moon Phobos and is expected to carry out 100 days of science there. After landing, the rover will probably bounce off the surface several times and tumble due to the low gravity on Phobos. Once it comes to rest, it must autonomously right itself using its locomotion system and then unfold its solar panels. Without its solar panels, the MMX rover is roughly the size of a crate of drinks.
