VESTEC software solution – wildfire in Spain
Research institutions and companies from a number of EU countries contributed their expertise to the VESTEC (Visual Exploration and Sampling Toolkit for Extreme Computing) project. VESTEC aimed to exploit interactive supercomputing for rapid decision-making in emergency situations. It was a European-funded Horizon 2020 project for the assessment and management of acute crisis scenarios using intelligent software solutions. The DLR Institute of Software Technology was responsible for coordinating the large-scale project, which was completed in 2022.
