RIME ice penetrating radar under test
A 1:18 scale model of the RIME dipole antenna for the JUICE mission, mounted on a simplified spacecraft model during tests in the Hertz facility at the European Space Research and Technology Centre (ESTEC) in Noordwijk, the Netherlands. The thin, forward and backward pointing rod has a length of 16.6 metres. RIME is an ice penetrating radar designed to study the subsurface structure of Jupiter’s large moons from a distance.
