Albert Betz (1885–1968) initially served as a department head before becoming director of the Aerodynamics Research Institute (AVA) in Göttingen in 1937. This portrait was taken around 1910. As a mechanical engineer, physicist and aerodynamicist, he made fundamental contributions to aerodynamics and wind energy.
