Award-winning wind tunnel test section for vehicles of the future

DNW
In December 2024, German-Dutch Wind Tunnels (DNW) officially opened its state-of-the-art Automotive Test Section (ATS). The first facility of its kind worldwide, it enables accurate measurement of the rolling and air resistance of larger vehicles in accordance with the Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicle Test Procedure (WLTP), which is mandatory in Europe. The DNW ATS is not only unique in terms of its size, but the entire test section can be reconfigured within a day, which impressed the jury of the Automotive Testing Technology International (ATTI) Awards. This year, the award was presented to the DNW ATS at the Automotive Testing Expo Europe in Stuttgart.
DNW was founded by the German Aerospace Center (Deutsches Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt; DLR) and the Netherlands Aerospace Centre (NLR).
