The Coloe Fossae region in the northern highlands of Terra Sabaea
The landscapes of Coloe Fossae lie along Mars' dichotomy boundary – the transition from the Martian highlands of Terra Sabaea to the northern lowlands of Utopia Planitia, approximately 55 degrees east longitude and 40 degrees north latitude. DLR’s HRSC stereo camera imaged the area on 19 October 2024 during orbit 26,257. The regional topographic overview map also shows several highland areas north of the dichotomy boundary, some of which are already heavily eroded – the table mountains of Protonilus Mensae and the hills of Colles Nili.
