On 24 September 2026, the German Aerospace Center (Deutsches Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt; DLR) and the mobility company Siemens Mobility signed a framework agreement on contract research and development at InnoTrans in Berlin, the leading international trade fair for rail and transport technology. The signing took place to mark the 30th anniversary of InnoTrans.
The collaboration focuses on technologies and solutions for automated, resilient and cost-effective rail transport. These developments are intended to enhance the resilience, efficiency and sustainability of rail transport while also making it more attractive to users. Together, the two organisations aim to help strengthen Germany’s position as a hub and innovation leader for mobility technologies. To this end, they are developing future rail technologies – ranging from signalling systems to innovations that improve the economic viability of rail vehicles.
