In line with the High-Tech Agenda, DLR is strengthening Germany's technological leadership through space research – by translating innovations directly into practical applications for business and society, from quantum and robotics technologies to launch systems.

The German Aerospace Center (Deutsche Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt; DLR) is playing a key role in the implementation of Germany's High-Tech Agenda by developing technologies for the sovereign and sustainable use of space. DLR is not only strengthening German and European technological leadership and competitiveness but also making an important contribution to national security and European sovereignty.

Through its innovations, DLR is advancing key capabilities in launch systems, Earth observation, satellite communications, quantum technologies, Europe's Galileo navigation satellite system, robotic systems and the exploration and study of planetary bodies. DLR’s research and technology are always aimed at concrete applications – with a particular focus on knowledge exchange with public stakeholders, technology transfer to industry and benefits for society.

In close collaboration with industry, research and policymakers, DLR is developing technologies that make the journey from laboratory to real-world application, while also securing and strengthening critical infrastructures in Germany and Europe. The successful transfer of space technologies to terrestrial applications – assistive robotics in medicine and healthcare is just one of myriad examples – illustrates the wide-ranging social and economic value of space research for multiple industries and key areas of society.
