miniRAD calibration radiator
The calibration radiator of the miniRAD radiometer is mounted in the rover's front shutter and will be within the instrument's field of view during the flight phase. The surface microstructure has a thermal emissivity close to one and can be heated to different temperatures using a foil heater. Using this infrared radiation, the calibration of the instrument can be checked regularly during the journey.
