"Cutting-edge research requires excellent minds – particularly more females – at all levels. Launch your mission with us and send in your application now!" Prof. Pascale Ehrenfreund - Chair of the DLR Executive Board

Your mission:

The Institute for System Architectures in Aeronautics is modelling aviation as a system of systems starting from the aircraft and reaching to the overall air transportation system as well as the details of production of components. Research activities are aiming at new system-architectures and large-scale optimization-processes for novel aircraft-configurations and development-scenarios.

Within a young team you will develop technologies for modelling, simulation and optimization of system-architectures in multidisciplinary scenarios. The focus of your research is the definition and implementation of a generator for aircraft-system-architectures, as well as the development of reasoning model within such architecture-based concepts. Your work will support the decision making of all stakeholders involved in design processes of future aeronautical systems. You are integrating the technologies in an innovative design- and optimization environment in order to draft future aircraft concepts within multi-national design-teams.

Your qualifications:

  • Master´s degree in a technical discipline such as aerospace, electronics, mechanical engineering
  • preferably specialized in knowledge-based-engineering (KBE) and multi-disciplinary-optimization (MDO)
  • experience in MDO system implementation and industrial experience are an advantage
