Berlin
The Berlin site of the German Aerospace Center (DLR) was founded in 1992. The research work conduced here focuses on the areas of space and transport.
The site in the German capital has made a name for itself through its participation in major international missions of the Institute of Planetary Research, such as Mars Express, the Rosetta comet mission or Mars InSight. At the Institute of Optical Sensor Systems, scientists develop and research active and passive optical sensor systems for spaceflight, for airborne platforms and for robotic systems.
Designing safe, efficient and sustainable mobility – this is the focus of researchers at the Institutes of Transport Research, Transportation Systems and Vehicle Concepts in Adlershof. As pioneers for an environmentally and socially compatible transport system and management, scientists and engineers devote themselves above all to cross-modal concepts and the use of state-of-the-art technologies for transport.
At the DLR_School_Lab Berlin, schoolchildren are introduced in an age-appropriate way to the fields of planetary research, optical information systems and transport research based here. Under the expert guidance of experienced tutors, the children and young people can become researchers themselves by independently carrying out exciting experiments related to current research topics.
