Forest fires in the USA

21 September 2020

The forest fires of the last days in the USA are considered to be the most severe since recording.
The smoke fields in the MODIS images of the Terra and Aqua satellites extend over several thousand kilometers. The smoke particles could also be measured in Germany. Here, they led to spectacular sunrises and sunsets because the smoke particles filter blue light more strongly and allow more red light to pass through.
