With a temperature difference of 275 degrees Kelvin between the hot and cold tanks, this demonstration plant has a storage capacity of about 6 megawatt hours, which can be used to generate steam at full power for about three hours even after sunset. Commercial solar power plants use large salt storage tanks that allow power generation 24 hours a day.
