Security and defence research

The German Aerospace Center (Deutsche Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt; DLR) is making a significant contribution to the implementation of Germany's High-Tech Agenda through its security and defence research. Drawing on its interdisciplinary expertise in aeronautics, space, transport and digitalisation, DLR develops technologies for integrated security and fosters synergies between civil and military research. Through its research into secure artificial intelligence (AI) and quantum technologies, DLR is also strengthening national cybersecurity.
In close cooperation with public authorities and end users, DLR is developing solutions specifically tailored to the needs of public sector bodies – in particular the ministries responsible for economic affairs, defence, transport and digitalisation, as well as the Federal Ministry of the Interior, the Federal Police, the Federal Criminal Police Office, the Federal Chancellery and industry players. In doing so, it makes a key contribution to Germany's sovereignty, resilience, defence capability, technological leadership and competitiveness.
