The German Aerospace Center (Deutsche Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt; DLR) is making a major contribution to the implementation of Germany's High-Tech Agenda by maintaining technological leadership in civil aviation and further strengthening its advanced industrial expertise. In doing so, DLR ensures that German companies are in a strong position to develop and operate future generations of aircraft across their entire lifecycles.
With its unique research infrastructure, DLR enables the verification and validation of highly sophisticated technologies, methods and tools all the way from concept to real-world application. With its research aircraft fleet, modern wind tunnels, simulation and test centres and test fields, DLR provides optimal conditions for developing innovative technologies and sustainable, competitive solutions. DLR activities span all areas of value creation, from materials development, aircraft design and operation throughout the entire lifecycle, to the economic assessment of aviation within the wider context of mobility and the environment. Through these efforts, DLR actively strengthens the competitiveness and technological sovereignty of the German aviation industry, laying the foundation for a safe, environmentally-compatible and economically viable aviation sector of the future, that meets the challenge of global high-tech competition.
